My Journey on the Crypto Hype Train as a Stock Noob

But what I know is that I haven't made a mistake when I put some extra $250 onto the DeFi market. I'm juggling with that money now – with an overall profit.

It all started in December 2020. No. The thought of risking some of my money and trying my luck in betting started way earlier.

I have seen several people taking high profits from sports betting. I got in the mood to jump in with a few bucks, but I was blinded by trying to win big. I completely forgot I am not even watching the games on television, I don't even know the teams and their chances against each other, I did not do any research plus I didn't listen to anyone. I quickly realised this thing was not for me. Thankfully this whole adventure was only about $5 but it hit me hard back in the day.

Somewhat later, when I got closer to gaming and game collecting, I quickly realized how different some game copies' prices are.

You wouldn't guess how many games you have come across when roaming around in a used article shop not knowing that those games tagged with $1 may worth a fortune.

I found some pretty high-value N64 games in a shop for used toys – even the owner didn't know what they were.

That's when I decided investing money in these rarities from time to time. Little research, big chance for big money.

But game collecting and trading don't come with sudden price rising. You invest with the hope of winning money back after years.

On the other hand, nothing could give you that tingling sensation when you find boxed GameBoy Color systems for $10 in a local, long-forgotten second-hand shop.

When seeing the current state of crypto and trying my luck with it, I had another feeling of ecstasy.

To tell you the truth, when beginning I had no knowledge of the stock market, buy or short positions, nothing. I know little right now as well.

In the 21st century when everything's much easier to do without true talent or learning about the topic than a decade before – I thought I'd give it a go. Of course I was thinking about becoming a bitcoin millionaire, still there are other distracting elements to it.

As a crypto, and basically stock- and economy-amateur, in the beginning I was trying desparately to understand market conditions, overriding factors by reading news articles, speculations and watching youtube videos.

Then I realised the only way forward is not looking back and trusting my guts all the time when deciding what and how to do.

From just $250 invested, I have been regularly taking out $3-4 profits per opened position, sometimes losing the chance to win even bigger.

Several assets, including BTC, ETH, ADA, XRP, LTC and more gave me small amounts of profit from beginning of January till now. I'm currently standing at $310 value which I'm really thankful for.

I know I could do things even better, wait more and see. Slow growth is motivating enough to keep on moving this money between assets I personally believe in.

Some friends always ask me what I want to go for. My only reasonable answer is this:

There's this deep instinct in people thinking they might be the chosen ones who will win the lottery or other gambling games. We love to think about we are the special, we dream about winning numbers and finding stashed money in the woods. We are chasing the idea of leaving the thought of chasing money behind – until we get old and die. With lottery, your chances winning are as if there was no chance. Scratch cards as well. Sports gambling? You GOTTA love sports for it. And for crypto and other stocks? Put your extra money in, even when you have little, close your eyes and open them somewhat later. I didn't regret it. 50/50.

Thanks for reading my article about how I feel about investing small amount in cryptos at the stock market.

This might be my first and last post about the stock market in general. Without appropriate knowledge I do not have the capabilities to suggest anything for true and proven benefit for you readers.

This is my life story of the phenomenon when investing in several things.

This is more like an opinion based on my experiences rather than advising you to do anything with your hard-earned money. Don't take it a financial advice, please.
