Welcome to my weekly newsletter on cannabis and psychedelics. “Dark” isn’t an adjective that crops up often regarding the colorful psychedelics movement. But at a fundraiser in Denver last month, it struck me that even a cultural movement that strives to make people more open has its closed doors. One is “dark money” — a byproduct of US laws that allow wealthy donors to stay anonymous while influencing US elections.
The movement to legalize psychedelics is gaining steam, with the support of rare public donors such as Brock Pierce, the child actor turned crypto entrepreneur, and a much larger channel of dark money.
