Latest Quantum computer doubles in power - What does this mean for Bitcoin???!!!

Do repost and rate:

Ok so I assume most readers that have kept a pulse on the crypto news have heard of the not so real threat of quantum computing. So the latest development in the space has been announced a couple of days ago by Rockwell. Read the original announcement here. Their latest iteration of the quantum computer is claimed to have stable 64 Qubits which is twice as much as the current quantum computer. So here is a little introduction to quantum computing and what it really means for the current public key cryptography.

What the hell are quantum computers??

Now I am no expert at this but I have a collection of some really cool articles that explain what these are. At the most basic level traditional computers use binary bits 0 or 1 for computational purposes. But quantum computers use what are called Qubits which can be both 0 and 1 at the same time with varying probabilities!! If I have already lost you I would not blame you! Are they really a threat to current cryptography and ultimately Bitcoin?

Well I think its goes without saying that these computers must be a long way away from cracking the current cryptographic algorithms and in turn Bitcoin. But I guess each little advancement in quantum computing does take a little step towards making the current cryptography redundant. So what do the experts think about this threat? Here is one of the best resources in the bitcoin world, Andreas M. Antonopoulos  talking about the so called "Quantum Supremacy". So rest assured your bitcoin is not going to disappear any time soon!!!
