TRON (TRX) CEO and founder Justin Sun has offered a $1 million bounty for any usable information on the identity of the individuals behind the massive twitter hack that occurred on July 15. Sun announced the bounty via the BitTorrent account, which TRON now owns as a result of an acquisition in July 2018.

The hack saw the attackers take control of these Twitter accounts to post links to various cryptocurrency scams. A handful of different addresses were involved, and it is believed that the hackers have only managed to siphon approximately $120,000 - a comparatively small sum, given the scope of the hack. The targets have a combined following of hundreds of millions of followers. Twitter has had to take the unprecedented step of suspending posts from these accounts.

The hack set off alarm bells for lawmakers and tech giants, and quickly sparked an investigation that now involves the FBI. Several high profile figures were targeted, including former US President Barack Obama, Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden, Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, and several figures from the cryptocurrency industry, including Sun.

Twitter’s internal investigation has confirmed that the company’s own internal tools and systems were used in the hack, after a coordinated social engineering attack was directed at employees.
