If, like me, you missed the boat on Bitcoin then you probably spend a minute or two imagining how amazing it would have been to mine even one block when the reward for that was 50 bitcoins! That has a current value of around ?2.1 million (~$2.9 million), which is absolutely life-changing, and if you managed to get in early, congratulations.
For people like myself, I'm left with the question as to whether investing in crypto still makes sense as surely we've missed the biggest event possible (or have we?!).
Think Long Term
Let's look at the total amount of money invested in crypto up to 2018:
Wow, over $500 billion is an incredible amount of money. At this point you could easily have thought the crypto market is becoming saturated and will max out. Let's look at what happened in between then and now:
Damn, that first peak looks tiny to where we are now. Okay, surely at $1.75 trillion there's not much more room for growth in the crypto market. Actually, before we jump to that conclusion maybe we should compare where crypto is currently at to say, the stock market:
At this point I think it's safe to say crypto has a little room for growth! Even if crypto could get 10% of the value out of the stock market over the next 5-10 years, that would be nearly $9 trillion. Can you imagine how much the value of the coins that have real world use cases and utility (VET, HOLO, BAT, etc.) would be worth if that were to happen?
We will look back at $1.75 trillion and it will be a tiny blip on the chart, much more so than comparing 2018 to 2021. If you are worried that you're too late to the crypto party, you really have nothing to worry about. Crypto is currently in it's infancy and over the next 5-10 years the coins/projects which have real world utility will explode and you will be made very rich (providing you HODL and don't sell early).
There will be ups and downs in crypto, but with more and more people investing in the market the trend is clear and we are going up to new heights. Stay strong and start accumulating as and when you can, you'll thank yourself in a few years.
