Decentralized blockchain network IOST announced on Tuesday that it has secured the first place in the popular coin voting by Huobi Japan. IOST trumped renowned blockchain projects like Tezos, Ontology, Enjin, NEO, and Qtum. The voting was jointly hosted by Huobi Japan and HashPort, which ended on August 16, and IOST grabbed victory by a margin of over 100 votes.

Overall, IOST gained 45% of the vote share, which was about 424 votes. The runner-up, Tezos received 275 votes, while Ontology came in third with 95 votes. Speaking on their victory, IOST co-founder Terry Wang stated that winning the contest shows how important a dedicated community is for any organization. He further added,

IOST is one of the fastest-growing blockchain networks globally, and interestingly all the top six projects in the competition were utility-focused tokens. After its Japan launch in 2018, IOST has been making concerted efforts to expand its community and user base in Japan by focusing on the education of potential engineers and promoting blockchain awareness in rural areas.

IOST also worked with local software companies to organize free advanced technology workshops for 300 students from seven universities. All of this seemed to have expanded its popularity in Japan, which is why it is not a surprise that IOST has won this competition.
