Reddit, one of the largest websites in the world, wants to expand its collaborations with the Ethereum Foundation.
Reddit recently started testing two new tokens, $ MOON and $ BRICK. These two tokens, which are still in the testing phase, are already used by more than 15 thousand people. However, this test study by Reddit covers only two different subreddits for now. In addition, the total number of members in these subreddites is less than 5 million.
After these tests, Reddit published a new announcement and announced that it wanted to expand its cooperation with the Ethereum Foundation. Reddit's plan is to use the community point system in question not just on two subreddits, but across Reddit. However, since Reddit has 430 million users per month, a special scaling will be required for Reddit.
Call to Developers
In order for the community point system to be used throughout Reddit, a system that can handle this load must be developed. Reddit called for Ethereum developers for this and called on developers to scale up Reddit.
Ethereum developers have already done several different scaling studies for Ethereum, but these were largely made to facilitate the work of exchanges. So far, no project has been developed to suit a platform as big as Reddit. That's why Reddit is asking Ethereum developers to scale up to "100,000 users" and explains:
“We want to deliver the Community Point system to hundreds of thousands of people and develop a system that can handle so many people. Our goal is to use this system across Reddit (430 million monthly visitors) over time. ”
Developers, who will start working on Reddit's call, will need to prepare a project that meets the following criteria:
Within a 5-day period;
- 100 thousand points,
- 25 thousand new subscribers,
- Spend 75 thousand points and
- It should be able to handle 100 thousand transactions.
If a project that meets these criteria can be prepared, cryptocurrencies can be used more widely on Reddit. However, if we consider that Reddit has 430 million users per month, we can say that this process will not be easy. But the fact that Reddit is working on cryptocurrencies is a good development for both cryptocurrencies and Ethereum specifically.
