This is a fantastic milestone by SpaceChain who made the first Bitcoin transaction directly from space, using a multisignature Blockchain transaction using a GomSpace Hardware and supported by European Space Agency.
Multisignature transaction also dubbed "Multisig" is called to Bitcoin Transactions who requers various keys to be authorized, and this is important:
Split responsibility for holding BTC by multiple persons
Avoid failure on a single point transaction making it more difficult a wallet to be compromised also ensure that a backup seed if get lost doesn't necessary mean that the whole wallet is gone!
The transaction in Space was possible using a Hardware from GomSpace, that was onboarded on a powerful computer designed for data processing and by Nanoracks, that provide necessary Intel to create reliable way to use the space also that is conducive for space research and testing. The transaction was conducted by the SpaceChain Co-founder with a public slip that can be checked on the here.
SpaceChain have a vision to create a decentralized orbita of constellation for companies also implant bitcoin nodes on satellites.
Also to note that the first multisignature transaction realized on Space wasn't directed to one wallet but for two, with a total of 0.001 BTC transfered to bitcoin addresses.
