Ethereum miners earned six times more in fees compared to those working on Bitcoin in September. Data from Glassnode shows that total Ethereum transaction fees held at an all-time high of $ 166 million for the month. Much more than the $ 26 million raised in BTC fees.

Ethereum's fees lagged behind BTC's. But they've skyrocketed in recent months as growing interest in DeFi led to record transaction volumes.

Fee income on Ethereum first surpassed Bitcoin's in June. The same month decentralized lender Compound launched its governance token and launched the DeFi craze.

As the DeFi space has gathered momentum, the difference between Ethereum and Bitcoin fees has increased from just $ 10 million in June to more than $ 70 million in August.
