EduTech start-up Digital Gurukul has announced that it will be using blockchain technology to offer certificates to its students. Such a move is not only unheard in India, but also is quite rare globally.

Digital Gurukul provides online certificate educational services to students for various courses. It has partnered with a Germany based blockchain solutions firm called Certif-ID. The move will allow students to share their credentials with future employers or for higher education authentically, without any geographical barriers. Commenting on the progress, Digital Gurukul Founder & Director, Raj Padhiyar said,

“Having forayed into the quest for continuous innovation in digital education, it is due to its propensity for technical breakthroughs that today Digital Gurukul stands on a strong foundation of technological platforms across its systems and processes. Following this legacy, Digital Gurukul is now set to disrupt yet another age-old system of providing paper diplomas to its graduating students.”

India is one of the fastest-growing markets for blockchain, and the scope for the use of this disruptive technology is huge in the country. Indian IT giants like Wipro, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Infosys, etc. are making big investments in adopting this innovative tech, which speaks volumes about the future of it in India. By adopting blockchain for issuing certificates, Digital Gurukul has made a very brave, yet smart move, which will give its students much more credibility in foreign countries, as chances of them faking their degrees will be considerably low.
