The BRAVE browser and its BAT token are very successful with an ever growing user base. The NOS project, a kind of Brave hard fork, falls like a hair on the soup and would disrupt this beautiful mechanism ... to the point that the Brave teams threaten to file a complaint against the developers of the copy!
Brave takes on its fork
Having started in June, the NOS internet browser project has recently been renamed "Bold Browser". It wants to be respectful of the privacy of its users and largely uses the Brave browser code, but without its token system or adware.
Although this version is open source, the CEO of Brave Software, Brenden Eich, does not seem to appreciate the too close proximity between his project and the newcomer.
Thus, the Bold Browser teams expressed themselves on their Twitter account.

Indeed, Dean van Dugteren, co-founder of the new browser, says it was the target of these threats of legal complaints. It added that as a developer it only contributes to the code of the new browser, and is not part of the management team.
The dispute related to trademarks and copyrights related to the Brave browser, including the use of its name in particular. Indeed, the project was nicknamed "Brave" for the first time, before renaming itself Bold.
The lion and the color of the Brave logo have also been changed, obviously to protect non-anonymous contributors to the new project - like Dean van Dugteren - from legal action.
The controversy has only just begun, and this procedural reaction from the Brave teams risks adding fuel to the fire rather than putting it out. Could Bold Browser go so far as to permanently tarnish the fall of Brave? It still seems too early to answer.
