According to the announcement, the competition will run for two weeks starting on September 16 and is designed to encourage developers to build interactive content that will form part of the Decentraland virtual world — anything from a video game to a piece of art.
The top 20 place finishers will earn a sizeable amount of MANA, worth at least $1,500 while 1,000 MANA will be given to each qualifying scene. Any amount over 50,000 MANA will be provided under a mandatory vesting schedule.
“The response to the June Hackathon was fantastic, with many community members coming up with a range of very cool and surprising creations,” Matty aka DCLBlogger, a Decentraland blogger and judge of the June Hackathon, said. “Based on the success of that event and two extra months of SDK maturation and feature additions, expect participants in the September Hackathon to produce even more amazing creations.”
