One of the biggest problems the crypto-community has to solve in order to make crypto become massively adopted is that it has to make the average Joe overcome the "fear of crypto" that lives deep inside his mind.
Whenever I try to approach someone that has none or a very basic understanding of crypto and try to talk him/her about some topic related to it, sooner or later I am about to realize that his knowledge about crypto is not only little, but dangerously limited. To give an example, when people ask me how do I make my living, I tell them that I run a Bitcoin faucet and they instantly look at me with that look like they are talking to a criminal or something.
"Is that legal?" is one of the questions I am gonna receive. Most people out there think that Bitcoin is (still) used by people on the darknet to buy hookers or drugs. This is something that still happens, but I wouldn't say that in 2021 Bitcoin's purpose is that. Not everybody is on that level though. People that have some more advanced knowledge about it, think that crypto has become something like a stock market (which is kinda true), but they have no idea about the security and the transparency that it provides. They think that there is something like a "Bitcoin official company" that "prints" digital money and cannot really understand its decentralized nature.
We need to make people more aware of what Bitcoin is and how it can become the revolution of global finance in the next year,s, if we really want mass adoption, but this won't be easy. The masses like to hear stories about underground hackers mining Bitcoin in their basements in order to hit the darknet stores later on and an attempt to demystify crypto would not happen over a night's time. Focusing on building new cryptocurrencies that are x1000 times faster than Bitcoin and can be used for building economies on other planets is a good thing to do, but if average Joe on Earth has no idea about what Bitcoin actually is, what we do does not really matter.
So, let's all focus on spreading the word about crypto so that people like average Joe overcome their cryptophobia and afterwards we can build the currency that will be used to transact from the one side of the Milky Way to the other. (LOL)
