Cryptocurrency is still not mainstream

When bitcoin reached $1,000 I beat myself up for not buying. When Bitcoin went to $30,000 I beat myself up for not buying more. But it is still not too late.

With BTC hitting its ATH in January 2021 many outlets reported that it had finally entered the mainstream. I disagree.

I have the privilege of working in an industry with cutting edge technology. Many of my colleagues have hefty IT qualifications yet there are only two I know of that have owned cryptocurrency. While the others know of its existence, they can't explain how it works or name any other coins other than DOGE (I blame reddit).

And even more shocking, when presented with free methods to obtain some, they turn it down. Quoting the usual crypto-skeptic mindset: It won't catch on, why would I buy something I can't physically own, etc.

If tech-savvy people think this, then you can be sure that the vast majority of people still aren't aware of its existence. Just because it's been in the media every time there's a large price hike doesn't mean that the average Joe has taken any notice.

This will soon be a common sight. Maybe not BTC, but something will be adopted as the standard.

What does that mean for people like us? There is still a huge percentage of the population to discover crypto and begin investing in it. And I unironically believe there is still a currency, maybe not even created yet that will be accepted as the standard and moon.

Until then there's a few more years to pack your bags. You are not late.
