Earlier this morning, a fairly well-known artist going by the name of "Soulja Boy" appeared to show interest in purchasing cryptocurrency, asking on Twitter for the best platform to purchase on.
While this did not stop most coins from falling in value across a 24hr timespan, it appears that this post may have resulted in a very short spike in value, at least according to BTC prices on coinmarketcap:
It's not often when Bitcoin, or any cryptocurrency for that matter, to get mainstream attention, whether that is through the news or high-profile celebrities. Usually, this follows after a new all-time high, controversy, or a mix of both, but drives the market upwards as people are interested in getting in on the opportunity. Crypto is definitely more volatile than many stocks, and the gains (and losses) can drive some more risk-tolerant individuals into the crypto space.
