Bitcoin users living in Hong Kong took out a full front page in Apple Daily - the city's last independent print newspaper also the largest print daily in Hong Kong.
The post reads: ???,???????,?????which can be translated as "Banks, today you're not ditching me, I'm ditching you." The newspaper is the Apple Daily, the largest print daily in Hong Kong, and also the last one with a strong independent editorial, meaning not under control of the Communist Party of China. Two weeks ago Jimmy Lai, the paper's CEO, was arrested on 'National Security' charges.
Hong Kong's CO and many senior officer are being sanctioned by US, can not use bank service, and the USD-HKD currency de-peg is an emerging threats, peoples are changing their asset allocation to avoid capital control in the foreseeable future. Bitcoin is one of the safest bets for many Hong Kong residents as the government can't confiscate it nor even find out if they own any.
