The Binance Smart Chain team has been working on a new feature called "Smart Contract Integration" which allows you to write your smart contracts on top of the platform. This is where things start getting interesting. What does this mean? Well, there are already some well known Ethereum apps running on BSC.
One such example is Status, a decentralized social network built using Solidity, and the Mist web development environment. Another popular one is Augur, a prediction market based on the Ethereum Virtual Machine. With the introduction of smart contracts, we're going to see more and more apps being ported over to BSC. This will undoubtedly lead to BSC gaining more traction among developers. When the BSC team first announced this feature, the reaction wasn't entirely positive. As a result, they've been taking flak from the crypto space.
The team has remained resolute, however, and as a result, they're inching ever closer to their goal. In the words of BSC's Chief Visionary Officer, "Having smart contracts on our chain will legitimize our chain in the eyes of many. It will allow people to start taking a lot more seriously." If that's indeed the case, it won't be long before we begin to hear about apps being built for BINANCE Coin.
You might even see an influx of projects relating to cryptocurrency, a field in which Binance is already a leader.
How far will this new direction ultimately take them? Well, that remains to be seen.
One thing's for sure, though, and that's you'll be hearing a lot more about Binance Coin in the months to come.
