If you are following crypto news closely, you are surely aware of the recent moves of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. Some people think that the time for the bull run that so many of us have been waiting for has already arrived. But some others are less convinced.
One thing is certain, cryptocurrencies attract a lot of people as more and more are deciding to invest money in this field. There are many reasons for this. the particular economic context, the culmination of various long-standing projects, or simply the rise of people's interest in blockchain technology.
Unlike the classic market, the cryptocurrency one is still young and therefore volatile in essence. It is certain that whales have a huge impact on the market.
However, it seems that their impact tends to be less and less important. Indeed, according to a report from Glassnode, the number of "small" investors is clearly increasing.
The number of Bitcoin addresses with less than 10 BTC would have increased from 5.1% to 13.8%. Which means that the number of small investors has more than doubled.
This reflects a genuine growing public interest in cryptocurrencies.
At the same time, the number of addresses with 100 to 100,000 bitcoin is a smaller share than before.
This can be explained by the fact that large investors probably want to diversify and have probably invested part of their portfolio in other cryptocurrencies. It is moreover rather an interesting strategy and it is what any good investor will recommend you to do.
Are users like you and me regaining some "control" on the cryptocurrency market ? In my opinion not yet but I like to think that the masses will one day have more weight than a few individuals.
It is good to remember that the market being particularly volatile, it is important to think before making decisions so as not to be manipulated by a trend imposed by whales.
