On 4th August I woke up to check my portfolio to find that overnight its value had increased. This was mainly to do with significant movement in both my Augur and Chainlink holdings. This brought a smile to my face and is more invigorating than a morning coffee.
However, that is not the real reason I am writing today.
Closer analysis of my portfolio showed that at some point during the night / early hours of the morning – about two hours before I woke up – my portfolio for the first time had actually exceeded my investment value. I had surfaced and taken a deep refreshing breath of profit.
It was slightly unfortunate that I wasn’t able to fully capitalise on this because I was asleep at the time (I am sure there is a metaphor in there somewhere) and by the time I had woken up it had slipped back below the line, but only just.
For those of you have been following me since I started blogging on here you know I have fought to drag my portfolio in an upward direction. It is hard to believe that barely a month ago I was looking at compounded losses of almost 16% on my portfolio value. Again you will be aware that partially out of despair and partially through an understanding of finance I developed a multi-layered strategy to drag my portfolio kicking and screaming in the right direction.
One thing that I haven’t mentioned hitherto is that I spread my investment fund across increasing numbers of currencies albeit with lower amounts. It is all well and good to hold a huge amount in one Crypto, but that makes your portfolio more susceptible to market fluctuations, including heavy headline losses. It’s great when the big surge comes and you cash out but thus far I haven’t been able to crest such a wave and this has encouraged a more conservative, but stable approach that has let to consolidated growth that has been sustained for the last three weeks, whatever the market it doing.
One irony actually reduced the potential size of my portfolio. As those of you who follow my blog know I wrote an article It’s Not All About the Money in which I am leveraging my TEZOs holdings against other currencies to increase my net yield of TEZOs. I thought the TEZOs had topped out at about ?2.40 so I moved almost all of them in anticipation of the price settling. It then surged to at least ?2.50 which would have added another ?0.10 per TEZO held to my portfolio value.
So now I find myself in a position of waiting for a currency value to fall, and overnight and this morning there is some evidence that it is beginning to settle. Best case scenario for me is for the TEZOs price to fall as low as possible.
To cut a long story short the strategies are working and it further illustrates why a multi-layered approach has to be taken to leverage both rising and falling prices on the market. So now it is onwards and upwards (to mix my metaphors).
