190 million dollars of ethers linked to the PlusToken scam have just been moved via several transactions. A palpable fear invades the market and sows doubt in the crypto community.
PlusToken is reputed to be one of the most famous, and supposedly the widest scam the cryptocurrency industry has ever known. After having managed to collect the equivalent of 3 trillion dollars denominated in bitcoin, EOS and Ethereum, the criminals were unmasked in June 2019.
The movement of 789,533 ethers, or $ 190 million, was disclosed by “Whale alert”, a well-known tracking tool in the crypto scene.
This amount had not been transferred for 6 months and raises fears of a market collapse. In December 2019, the stolen ethers had already been transferred and the same fears had appeared within the community, without having consequences.
Many specialists also believe that the PlusToken scam greatly contributed to the Bitcoin collapse in March 2020.
Since yesterday, funds have been distributed among 52 addresses. Even if they remain unknown, it is not impossible that they belong to an exchange or OTC platform. We are not in a position to know whether the funds still belong to PlusToken or whether they have already changed hands.
