The Four Horsemen of the Cryptocalypse

Do repost and rate:

There are 6251 coins listed on CoinGecko.  That's nearly 6000 more than the amount of circulating currencies worldwide.  But nobody cares about Slothcoin.  What are the top four cryptocurrencies?

Everyone knows about Bitcoin.  Most everyone knows about Ethereum.

Is news about Monero being censored by the 5/9/14-eyes countries?

Will the US Dollar stay important enough over the next 10 years to keep Tether, afloat?

Bitcoin

The Original Gangsta of financial industry replacement, Bitcoin, or BTC, is currently the biggest cryptocurrency in the world.  Its popularity has caused it to become nearly synonymous with cryptocurrencies in general.  Because of this popularity, I doubt Bitcoin will ever become completely obsolete.

Ethereum

The only other cryptocurrency in nearing the same order of magnitude as BTC, Ethereum, or ETH, is Bitcoin's functional kid sibling.  While Bitcoin is primarily a way to pay for things, ETH is a way to pay, play, and create.  I'm bullish on ETH mostly because its functionality has caused it to become the backbone for many, MANY projects with quite a lot of money tied up in them.

Tether

Tether, or USDT, is listed as the #3 cryptocurrency on Coingecko's list.  Right now Tether is used for its functionality and connection to the United States Dollar.  However, Tether's strength - the connection to USD - is also its weakness.  As the USD inflated, each Tether coin will be worth similarly less, while other non-stablecoin cryptocurrencies' prices will raise in a way that is similar to the way stocks or gold prices raise with inflation.  Stablecoins have an important role to play in creating a world where cryptocurrencies are commonly used, and as long as the USD remains strong (which I, as an American, am not confident in) Tether will remain an important cryptocurrency.

MONERO

Monero, or XMR, is my dark horse call.  I'm not sure why everyone who knows about cryptocurrencies doesn't know about Monero.  It's like bitcoin, but truly anonymous, as well as being easy to mine.  Monero's creator launched it under a pseudonym - Nicolas van Saberhagen; does that sound like any other cryptocurrency creators you can think of?  If you've never studied up on XMR, please do soRight nowIt's amazing.

Monero is in a bit of trouble because the governments of countries with big spying-on-everything-everyone-does operations don't like that they can't see what is going on: it's too well encrypted.  Is that a benefit or a curse?  I'll let you decide.

These are my choices for the Four Horsemen of the CryptocalypseHODL them, and see gains soar.
