As the first-ever PFP project, CryptoPunks started a paradigm for avatar collecting. Launched in June 2017 by Larva Labs, CryptoPunks ignited the NFT craze in late 2020. The pixelated profile pictures used to be at the pinnacle in the PFP competition. However, it was outperformed by BAYC in December 2021 for the first time. On March 11, 2022, Yuga Labs (parent company and creators of the BAYC) announced the acquisition of the CryptoPunks IP.

The Mutant Ape Yacht Club (MAYC) is a derivative project by BAYC. The Mutant Apes were created by exposing a Bored Ape to a vial of Mutant Serum. In this way, BAYC rewarded loyal Bored Ape holders with an entirely new NFT, a mutant version of their primates. Furthermore, it also lowered barriers for novices to participate in the BAYC ecosystem.

Mutant Ape #4849 is the most expensive NFT in the collection by far. 

This Mutant Ape with black horns and a long-toothed livid face sold for a whopping 350 ETH. The collection currently has a floor price of 26 ETH and an all-time volume of 307,575 ETH. 

#4 CloneX

CloneX is a prominent example in the world of virtual street fashion. The creator of CloneX, RTKFT Studios, has been rising quickly in virtual streetwear and sneakers. With an ambition for the metaverse, NIKE Inc. acquired RTFKT in December 2021, recognizing the next-generation collectibles for its cutting-edge innovation to merge culture and gaming.
