Something new is arriving to Osmosis.zone next week, Liquid Staking. You might already heard this often for last few weeks.
What is Liquid Staking
We know already what is staking and it means for the Proof of Stake blockchains, we are securing the blockchain by staking our coins. Let's call this vanilla staking, ok, joking... anyway, when we stake our coins, they are locked in for a certain period of time and we can not utilize them anymore, and unlocking (varies from chain to chain) takes some time (2-3 weeks usually).
On the other hand Liquid Staking is trying to solve the problem of traditional staking as we have mentioned, by allowing stakers to utilize their staked assets without renouncing their staking rewards. so we might use staked coins, in a liquidity pool for receiving extra rewards.
Liquid staking coming to Osmosis.zone next week, starting with pool #1 namely ATOM-OSMO Liquidity Pool, and than probably will expand other pools (and eventually other chains). That's quite big, but it might eventually lower the APR of the OSMO pools, we already know that OSMO pools' APR is going down slowly because of the masses arriving to Osmosis.zone. Well, we will see what will happen in few days. You might also take look to the pStake Finance which is achieving similar thing between Ethereum and Cosmos.
