Dear NiceHash users!
It has come to our attention that Phoenix miner is no longer available for download from its original download location. Control shasum from new download locations does not match the value published by the developer on his channel! This brings the possibility that the Phoenix miner's author wants to cover its tracks and disappear or even do something malicious.
We have immediately disabled Phoenix miner from NiceHash Miner, and we advise everyone to stop using Phoenix miner immediately!
According to my own research, It's actually true that the PhoenixMiner binary is no longer available to download because of termination from MEGA and OneDrive. But that does not mean that PhoenixMiner is trying to cover its tracks and disappear (or do something bad via their miner binaries).
NiceHash also suggested that all users that have used PhoenixMiner before for mining either on NiceHash or any other mining pools to :
Reinstall OS
Change all passwords and activate 2FA where possible!
If any cryptocurrency wallets were used on this PC, we recommend you to move funds to other wallets immediately!
Which is quite interesting, they probably think that the PhoenixMiner might turn into a virus and harm users. Well it could happen but that's a rare case.
At the end note from NiceHash, they said for Miners that have Nvidia GPU's to only use their NiceHash Quick Miner binary and for AMD miners to use Lolminer plugin for NiceHash instead.
My summary : I'd say this whole announcement is just an advertising to encourage all miners to use their platform because the NiceHash Quick Miner Binary (NHQM) is created by them. Not really a good things in my opinion, panicking for something that no one is able to verify first and making that announcement as a way to advertise themself.
