Three Standford PhD students have worked on a new cryptocurrency you can mine from your phone. While Google and Apple have banned most mining apps in their app stores since 2018, the app for this cryptocurrency is still available. This currency is called "Pi" and is part of the Pi Network. This new digital cryptocurrency can be mined with your mobile phone, but with minimal power usage from your phone. According to the creators, Pi Network is "fairly distributed, eco-friendly, and consumes minimal battery power". You can join today and start mining but a word of warning: while Pi Network operates in over 150 countries, Pi currently has no monetary value. However, the smart cookies behind this cryptocurrency have grown with the number of users, some trading of the cryptocurrency between members is allowed, and ads have been added to the app to give the project ad revenue.
