Iran Customs: Import of Mining Hardware Worth $10 Million

After controversy over mining cryptocurrencies in Iran, now, the news seemingly revealed by the Iranian Customs Administration has also fueled the debate, speaking about the entry of mining hardware worth more than  $10 million.

Recently, with the power outage in Iran, the government has blamed the miners and announced that mining (even with a license) will be banned for the next four months.

This is while the issue of daily power outages in Iran is normal with the beginning of summer and people are struggling with it every year. In addition, due to sanctions, many power generation facilities in Iran are worn out.

Before this, until two years ago, the import of mining hardware did not require the registration of the order, and importers used free and special economic zones. But last year, Customs made a new decision on the process of importing minor Hardware.  Therefore, the entry of mining Hardware into free trade-industrial zones and special economic zones was possible only by obtaining an order registration license and full observance of regulations, and the customs issued a circular to all official points.

Now, after almost a year as the mining news oven is hot again; new documented statistics on the import of mining hardware have been seemingly revealed.

According to the technical deputy of Iran's customs, so far the import of about $ 10.2 million mining hardware has been registered in the customs. Accordingly, since last year, about 20,000 mining device packages with a total weight of 15.2 tons have entered the country.

According to him, the mining equipment imported mainly in China, which is said to have been imported with the help of “official import currency”. The whole process had been totally legal and approved!

This statement is while the head of Iran's customs has called the import of mining devices to extract cryptocurrencies to Iran "banned" !!!

The customs value of imports of these devices is about 43 billion Tomans.
