Bitcoin Genesis Block was mined on 3 January 2009. It turned 14th yesterday. Regardless of whether you are a hardcore or casual Bitcoiner, this date must have been an opportunity for you to feel thankful for the power and control this inaugural digital asset brought to your life - against a world that seems determined to ruin you. There’s why the distinction between Bitcoin and altcoins.

I reckon that there are three groups of crypto investors. The first group are those who buy and hold Bitcoin for the long term, refusing to sell it for quick gains. The second group are Bitcoin advocates. They buy and hold Bitcoin but they also readily expend part of their stash by using the Lightning Network or even paying for stuff with Bitcoin. Bitcoin must be spent for it to gain validity as a currency, these people believe.

Then there are BTC detractors who don’t hold any BTC. They acknowledge its presence but see it as a store of value. They reject it as a non-productive asset since they find that Bitcoin doesn’t produce any yield of its own. Even though there is the BTC Liquid Network, they point to the case of stablecoins like USDC on Ethereum and question the King’s relevance. What would you say to these detractors?
