Hello everyone,
I would like to take the opportunity to quickly deliver a development update regarding Zano Life (working project name). In this update we I will cover progress in process research, and actual development progress. All process and visual status subject to change due to active development.
Zano Life allows users to buy and sell digital content for ZANO, directly from the browser and without needing to utilize Zano Core. Read initial announcement.
After giving it much thought, along with discussions with members of the Zano Core development team, I have decided to continue development with listings residing off-chain. At the protocol level, Zano's Marketplace API enables any user to create a transaction listing a sale or offer on-chain. Offers generally persist for about two weeks before becoming stale, and removed from the chain's marketplace_global_get_offers_ex (listing of all current offers). Until this is changed at the protocol level, ZL will create off-chain offers. To power the ZL Vault (digital goods storage), minfee transactions will be issues upon purchase that embed metadata of ownership.
To summarize:
- Semi-permanent Offers will be held off-chain till protocol update
- Proof of ownership will reside on-chain. Proof embedded via memo field.
- Note: Only Zano Life's core wallet and the purchaser wallet will see embedded data, obfuscating ownership.
- Non-permanent (timed, <=~14 days): Able to reside on-chain for cost of a transaction minfee.
Development Progress
I am happy to report that in just two-days time, both zanolife-api and zanolife have started active development.
- zanolife-api: Interfaces directly with local zano daemon. Performs blockchain lookup and wallet-related functions. Powered by nodejs.
- zanolife: User-served front-end. Communicates with the Zano blockchain via zanolife-api. Powered by Vuejs.
