In a recent interview, Tom Brady expressed his desire to receive some of his salary in crypto.
Tom Brady has been having a phenomenal 2021-22 season on and off the field. The future Hall-of-Fame quarterback has been in the news recently for his support of cryptocurrencies and related projects. Now, TB12 has announced that he wishes to get paid in cryptocurrency.
On a recent episode of Brady’s “Let’s Go” podcast with Jim Gray and Larry Fitzgerald, the living legend had this to say, “I’d love to request that to get paid in some crypto and, you know, to get paid in some Bitcoin or Ethereum or Solana tokens.’ Brady goes on to double down on his support for the industry by saying, “I think it’s an amazing thing that’s happening in the world with the way the world is becoming more digital. And these digital currencies, along with a lot of, if you look how the way the world is going, with all these different digital mediums and how they’re impacting currencies.”
Brady also confirmed during the episode that “there are other big-name players who have indicated that they’d love to get paid in Crypto.”
Brady going deep with crypto
Brady, who has made more than $300 million in his decades in the NFL, has been a vocal supporter of digital currencies. Not only does he support the effort, but he’s also participating in several projects including non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and a deal with FTX.
The deal with FTX also features Brady’s wife and international supermodel, Gisele Bundchen. Despite Brady’s 20+ years in the NFL, Bundchen is actually the main breadwinner of the family, after being the highest-paid model in the world from 2002 to 2017.
The pair signed a lucrative deal with FTX with Brady becoming a brand ambassador for the crypto exchange while Bundchen heads up FTX’s Environmental and Social Initiative. Both also received crypto and equity stake in FTX. On top of the FTX deal, Brady has also signed with Autograph.io to market and sell NFTs bearing his likeness. Brady released his first NFT collection, the “Preseason Access Collection,” in August and the entire lot sold out almost immediately.
