Curry’s NBA team NFT collection

NFT sphere is not unknown to basketball’s Stephen Curry. This year, in April, Curry’s NBA team, the Golden State Warriors became the first major professional sports team to sell its non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The team named it, “legacy” collection, which was officially licensed as digital memorabilia. The “legacy” NFT series encompassed digital videos of the team’s iconic championship rings, throughout the franchise’s history.

“We see NFTs and digitization of our business as a mainstay to engage our fans around the world. As an organization, we are constantly evaluating ways to be creative and innovate, and launching this special NFT Collection is the latest evolution for us in that space. Additionally, it is important to us that proceeds from this initiative will support the Warriors Community Foundation at a critical time in our community’s journey to rebuild educational practices during the pandemic.”, said Brandon Schneider, Warriors Chief Revenue Officer.

First-ever NFT ticket by Sacramento Kings

NBA’s NFT support and crypto partnerships with innovative and unique projects are unsurprising. Last month, in July, NBA’s Sacramento Kings announced trials for the first-ever Smart Ticket NFT Experience Pass. They revealed that this limited edition NFT ticket will come with exclusive privileges and experiences. Sacramento Kings has signed a partnership agreement with Lava and Flow, the blockchain organization that also sponsors NBA Top Shot.

Sports NFTs of individual players and teams have already gained global popularity. Sacramento Kings launched their tokens with over 85 NFTs commemorating the 1985 Kings’ commencement season in Sacramento. Furthermore, Football legend, Lionel Messi has announced the launch of his own Non-Fungible Token (NFT) collection, named “Messiverse”. While basketball and football dominate the sports NFT sphere, Legendary Boxer Tyson’s NFT ‘Lineal by Tyson Fury’ was recently auctioned for $987,000; that makes it one of most paid-for sports NFT.
