Hi all,

Now that you have launched, we are going further. On the program today the creation of custom Bots as well as my advice on this subject which may seem thorny at first.

This article isn't sponsored by Whalinvest and represents my own beliefs on this platform.

Find all my articles dedicated to the Whalinvest platform below :

En Francais : Presentation de Whalinvest / Guide de mise en route

In English : Presentation de Whalinvest / Starting guide

prerequisite:

- Have read at least the getting started guide or already be a Whalinvest user.

- Have basic knowledge about the cryptocurrency market and a trading strategy.

Setting the stage:

In order to properly separate our manual bots from our automatically generated bots, we will start by creating a new bag. This will then allow you to find your way around more easily and to measure more effectively the performance of your different bots.

  • From the home page, click :
  • A window opens, select “manual” and then give a name and a clear description to your bag.

The window for creating a new manual bag

  • Once the bag is created, enter it by clicking on the “See more” button.
  • For the moment, your bag must be empty, we will immediately remedy it, click on:

Simple custom bots :

We'll start by creating a bot from the simple interface. By default, you should already be on the window of creating it.

Simple custom bot creation interface

  • To get started, choose the pair you want to exchange. In our example, the PAIR VET/USDT. From this selection screen you have the possibility to choose any existing pair on your exchange (including even the USDC, the MATIC …)
  • By clicking on the icon to the right of “Pair”, you will open a new tab to the current price of the selected pair. Very useful to check the actual volatility of the cryptocurrency chosen.
  • Then give your bot the amount you want to allocate to it. You must have the amount available on your spot wallet.
  • Select the desired risk. For simplify, a low risk will be a long-term strategy, a medium risk will be a medium term strategy and a high risk will be a short-term strategy.
  • Click the “Create a bot” button. Your bot immediately gets to work, you just have to wait for the results.

It is highly discouraged to invest only in a high-risk portfolio. Know your investor profile and keep in mind that investing in cryptocurrencies is more like a marathon than a sprint :) .

Advanced custom bots :

Interface for creating an advanced custom bot.

  • To bring up the above window, click on the button again:
  • Click on “Advanced”, this window will appear.
  • Select the pair as well as the allocated amount, like for the creation of a simple custom bot (see paragraph above).
  • The novelties start here, first select the chosen time interval. This corresponds to the different time intervals between two candles. Your bot will then evaluate the market based on these indicators at each candle close.

In the image above, each candle represents 1 hour.

The smaller an interval, the shorter the strategy will be and therefore risky, I advise against bots in time intervals 15 minutes and 30 minutes. The market's view of the bot will be too limited, and it may be bought at the wrong time.

  • Once the time interval has been chosen, set up the management of your profits. In the case of our example, you can either accumulate BTC or switch to “farming” mode and accumulate NEO.

The bot in “farming” mode can be identified by its tractor icon.

  • Now you can choose how much of your profits will be reinvested directly into the bot's currency pool. That is, the share of profits directly reinvested in the bot following a successful “trade”. For example a bot having won $10 on its “trade” and having a setting at 50% will increase its allocated amount by $5 and leave the remaining $5  in your spot account.

For my part, having a fairly long-term vision, I reinvest between 60% and 80% of my earnings directly in my bots. This allows me to pay the running costs of Whalinvest while increasing my capital little by little.

  • I will not discuss loss management in this guide, this part will be the subject of a whole guide which will arrive shortly. In the meantime, know that a “Disabled Stop Loss” strategy is not a bad thing in the case of a long term strategy.
  • Now select the strategy. Here is a quick overview of the three strategies :

 — Ichimoku Kinko Hyo : strategy specializing in long-term profits, the most cautious of the three. Perfect for patient investors. This strategy can generate extremely large profits coupled with strong time intervals.

Diabolo : The most aggressive strategy of the three, in my own experience it works well with the 2h and 4h intervals. This is the ideal strategy for the more volatile pairs.

—  MRSI : Balanced strategy on paper. However, my own experience with this strategy has resulted in some very nervous bots at times (over 2 hour intervals).

  • In order to help you in your choice, Whalinvest provides you with statistics based on the last 1000 time intervals of the chosen pair. To make them appear, click on the button  to the right of the choice of strategy. If you are aiming for a long term strategy this indicator can help you make the right choice.

Comparison of the 3 strategies on the DOT / USDT pair over the last 1000 one hour intervals

At the time of writing these lines, the "Diabolo" strategy has been the most efficient for me. I still do not have enough perspective on the “Ichimoku Kinko Hyo” which according to the statistics provided by Whalinvest remains the most interesting.

  • Click on the robot creation button, and that's it, your bot is on its way!
