The tesla Cybertruck is without a doubt one of the most popular upcoming SUV/pickup trucks, and it’s primarily because we haven’t seen anything like it before. The cybertruck has unfortunately seen some delays in its launch, with Tesla now expecting to launch the two top-end versions in late 2021, followed by the entry-level model sometime after.
The CNBC show Jay Leno’s Garage has been teasing its episode with Elon Musk and the Cybertruck for a few days now, and the full segment has just aired online. In the video, Leno is shown driving the Cybertruck while Musk talks about the armored glass used in its making. Although we’ve also seen this in teaser videos, there’s new information available on the Cybertruck, including the knowledge that it can pass through The Boring Company’s tunnel in Los Angeles.
The video also reveals that the vault cover on the back can withhold an average person’s weight, while also making it easier to load up cargo. Further, there are multiple attachments within the vault bed to store cargo safely.
Some information in this Cybertruck segment is somewhat outdated, though. This is because the episode was shot way back in January. So when Musk talks about shrinking the vehicle by 5% to make sure it fits into garages, that was his position back then.
Since the teaser aired last week, Musk has clarified that the company won’t take that route and will stick to the original design shown off with the prototype. With Tesla now looking to launch top-tier Cybertruck options in late 2021, it is said that these models will be powered by dual or tri-motor powertrains, while the range is likely to be between 300 to 500 miles. The cheapest of the two high-end Cybertruck variants launching in late 2021 will reportedly cost $49,990.
