The Libra Association, the group behind Facebook’s upcoming cryptocurrency, has just brought on Sterling Daines as a Chief Compliance Officer.
Daines has been “a leader in the financial crime compliance industry” with a focus on anti-money laundering (AML), according to a release from the group. With a background also in fraud detection and other similar policies, Daines has been the Managing Director and the Global Head of Financial Crime Compliance at Credit Suisse – a perfect position to carry over into Libra.
Speaking on the matter is Daines himself, who says:
“I am pleased to join the Libra Association as it works to transform the digital payment space to empower billions of people. A critical element of achieving this mission is to ensure we are building a safe, compliant, and reliable platform for all users, which I look forward to significantly contributing to.”
Dains also has worked at Goldman Sachs and the Deloitte Financial Advisory Services in similar positions. Even then, he has also worked at the United States Department of Justice and Financial Crimes Enforcement Network.
Also speaking on the matter is Robert Werner, the General Counsel of the Libra Association, who says:
“I am thrilled that Mr. Daines will be joining the Libra Association as our Chief Compliance Officer. Mr. Daines is a world class compliance leader and will bring critical expertise to the project.”
