Major crypto exchange in South Korea are coming together against child porn in a collective effort, media reports.
Cryptocurrency is coming together to not only fight against the COVID-19 epidemic where Bitcoin users are also finding a cure for the virus but the sphere as a whole tries to fulfill its social duty every now and then.
For a long time, South Korean underaged boys and girls were filmed performing extreme sexual acted upon themselves. Videos of these acts were then shared on Telegram chat rooms, which pedophiles and molesters accessed through payment via cryptocurrency. Since then, Korean police have found multiple victims as their names and addresses were shared in the videos. Now the crypto exchange may be able to help.

Police named the criminal-Cho Ju-Bin, a 24-year-old South Korean who led the group that blackmailed these young girls- after 5 million Koreans signed a petition to reveal his identity.
Cho was interviewed by the press as he was being moved from a police station in Seoul when he stated that he apologizes to anyone that was hurt by his action, he further stated that he was thankful for being stopped as he could not do it himself.
Cho has been charged with intimidation, coercion, and abuse as he infringed the child protection law, sexual abuse law, and privacy law.
How did the chatrooms operate?
Cho managed the chatrooms that displayed child porn in exchange for payments that were done in crypto. Since the payments were in crypto, it made a challenging task for the police to track and shut down the chat rooms.
However, since South Korean law makes it mandatory for all crypto clients to pass through verification methods, the exchange platforms could help authorities in finding these bad actors.
