Barcelona Fan Token Sees Huge Volume in Just One Day

Spanish football giant FC Barcelona has sold the entirety of its pre-sale token amount for its $BAR token in just two hours, according to an announcement published on June 22. The token has been launched by the football club in collaboration with Chiliz and Socios, which offers sports related tokenization services. Chiliz and Socios founder Alexandre Dreyfus celebrated the achievement on Twitter.

Expected to last 2 days but selling out in in two hours, the pre-sale priced the token at $2.25 and raised $1.35 million from investors in 106 countries. The official sale begins today on June 25, with the price currently valued at $6.44 per token. The last 24 hours has seen a volume of over $2.5 million.

Chiliz, which calls itself it the first world’s first tokenized sports exchange, in the announcement said that demand for the $BAR token outstripped supply by five times. The platform’s tokenization features allow fans to support their favourite sports teams in various ways, including voting in polls, winning rewards, VIP tickets and the chance to meet players. Fans can already use their $BAR to vote in the first Barca poll — to choose a piece of fan-designed artwork to go inside the legendary home dressing room at the Camp Nou. A Leaderboard feature, where fans will receive rewards points based on how they interact with their teams through the app will be launched in the near future... A Chat feature and Games will also be launched on Socios.com in the coming months.

Several other football clubs and sports entities are also working with Socios.com, including UFC, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, Atletico de Madrid, AS Roma, Galatasaray, CA Independiente and esports team OG.
