Zed Run, a gamified investment dapp running on the Polygon blockchain, has hit a new NFT sales record this week. Five exclusive NFTs in collaboration with The Preakness sold for almost $400,000 in the last 24 hours according to data from DappRadar.
For non-horse racing fans, The Preakness is an American thoroughbred horse race. The race is the second of three races, known as the Triple Crown. It takes place two weeks after the Kentucky Derby and three weeks before the Belmont Stakes. For horse racing fans, these events are like the Superbowl or World Cup.
A collection of 17 individual unique NFTs has been released in collaboration with the horse breeding and racing game Zed Run to commemorate The Preakness 146-year legacy. These limited edition digital collectibles bring the most iconic races in Preakness history to life in an all-new digital format. Interestingly, the NFT was minted in real-time at Pimlico Race Course following Preakness 146.
Importantly, every NFT available for auction in the collection will unlock exclusive offerings within Zed Run. Potentially giving buyers a competitive advantage and a chance to unlock more earnings.
The Buyers
In the last 24 hours, the top-selling NFT was sold for 47.25 ETH or just over $158,000 while the lowest value NFT sold for 10 WETH or just under $33,000 at the time of writing. The total value of all five sales is just under $400,000. Interestingly using the DappRadar Portfolio Tracker we can see that the buyer of the most expensive Zed Run x Preakness NFT also holds 4 other NFTs from the same collection with a total value of just under $200,000.
This special edition Preakness X Nakamoto Montage NFT comes with a Z1 Nakamoto horse with the exclusive Preakness race-coat skin for use in Zed Run and will never be created again.
Additionally, using the DappRadar portfolio tracker we see that the buyer of 3 of the 5 highest priced NFTs was well known NFT buyer CoinUnited as the wallet contains over $1.8 million in NFT holdings. This includes 5 from the Zed Run x The Preakness collection totaling almost $265,000. Additionally, The Woodlawn Vase NFT purchased for over $108,000 comes with 2 VIP tickets to Preakness 147 (May 2022) inclusive of homestretch views and a VIP dining experience.
What is Zed Run?
In Zed Run, players build a stable of racehorses by buying, breeding, and racing digital thoroughbreds. All racehorses in the game are statistically unique and are defined by their bloodline, genotype, and their performance on the racetrack. The more your horse races and breeds, the more superior your racehorse becomes.
