Zed Run, a gamified investment dapp running on the Polygon blockchain, has seen a huge increase in overall user activity. The horse racing game has seen its user base grow 260% to more than 3,000 active wallets in the last 30 days.
The success of Zed Run isn’t only seen in the number of users, but also in other blockchain metrics. The number of transactions has swelled by over 625% to 390,440, while the transaction volume surged to $2.04 million, up almost 590% at the time of writing.
Interestingly, we see that the average transaction is around $5 with each user performing around 125 transactions each according to the data.
A combination of the game running on Polygon and the Zed Run Wallet means that transactions within the game don’t incur gas or admin fees. Giving users a fast and slick experience with next to zero costs.
What is Zed Run?
In Zed Run, players build a stable of racehorses by buying, breeding, and racing digital thoroughbreds. All racehorses in the game are statistically unique and are defined by their bloodline, genotype, and their performance on the racetrack. The more your horse races and breeds, the more superior your racehorse becomes.
The greater the steed, the greater the wealth you can create by commanding a higher selling or breeding price through ZED’s auction system. Moreover, breeding horses is not mandatory to play and players can simply purchase a ready-made horse from another player or alternatively place bets on other players’ horses. When making a decision to buy a racehorse, there are two key attributes to look for; bloodline and genotype.
Horses for courses
There are four bloodlines that exist within the Zed Run universe. Nakamoto, Szabo, Finney, and Buterin. Each bloodline contains differing levels of rarity and characteristics unique to that racehorse. A genotype is used to determine how far an offspring is away from its ancestors. The lower the Zed number, the higher the degree of purity and speed your racehorse will inherit.
The Nakamoto is the purest racehorse that exists within Zed Run and is often known as the Samurai breed. The Szabo bloodline is considered second only to the Nakamoto in terms of rarity. The Finney bloodline is considered the third most rare breed, yet these horses are still able to consistently perform toe-to-toe with competitors such as the Nakamoto. Finally, originating from Russia, the Buterin bloodline is known to be the most common breed of thoroughbred in the ZED ecosystem. Easily bred, these horses are naturally healthy, sturdy, and quick on their feet.
Moreover, Zed first-generation racehorses are known as the Genesis breed. There will only ever be 38,000 genesis-bred racehorses in the Zed ecosystem. The horses are not bred by players and are built into the game and available for sale on the marketplace.
When looking in the marketplace the most valuable horses are the ones with a Z number 1-4 with a Z1 horse costing around 4ETH or at today’s prices approximately $8,000. Still, there is no guarantee that the horse is a ready-made champion.
Analysis of the metrics attached to each steed is vital before making a purchase and arguably buying 10 ZED 10’s could prove more profitable than just having One Zed 1 horse.
