Most people believe in having the freedom to make choices about how they’ll live and what they’ll do. That level of self-sovereignty should be relatively straightforward anyways since no one but us can control the actions of our bodies and our minds. Even so, governments are looking for any way to gain control over us.
One of the primary ways they try to control us is through our money. Money impacts nearly every aspect of our daily lives after all, so if they can gain leverage over our financial relationships, they can attain massive levels of influence over us. No wonder governments have spent centuries solidifying their control over monetary systems.
We saw a potent, and unexpected, example of the lengths to which governments will go to control their people earlier this year when the Canadian government froze the financial accounts of citizens who disagreed with COVID vaccine mandates. It seems that we’ll be seeing another very similar situation playing out soon on the other side of the world.
The Power To Choose
If there’s one thing that many of us take for granted, it’s our ability to wear whatever we want. I’d venture to say that most of us won’t be in danger from our government no matter what we choose to wear. Truly, it should be that way for everyone.
Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be the case in the country of Iran, where news came out just last week that the country’s government is on the verge of extreme financial measures to ensure that women in the country dress the way the government wants them to dress, regardless of whether or not the women themselves want to. You heard that right. Women in the country could have their bank accounts frozen if they don’t submit to their government’s demands about what they wear.
If governments are willing to completely upend their citizens’ financial lives over choices about the clothes they wear, we shouldn’t be surprised by the idea that governments may succumb to the temptation to restrict our access to our money over anything we might disagree with. Have you disagreed with your government about anything lately?
What’s even worse is the fact that governments will soon be in a position to freeze our money from one minute to the next, without even having to reach out to banks, brokerages, or other financial institutions. The arrival of Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs), which have already been launched in a number of countries, will give governments total control over their currencies, no matter who’s using it or where it’s located.
Our ability to use our money freely is quickly vanishing…
Bitcoin Is Freedom Money
One of the strangest things I’ve heard during my time in the Bitcoin space is the claim by many critics that “Bitcoin has no purpose”, as if all the people holding and spending Bitcoin everyday don’t count for anything. Bitcoin is so valuable for the simple reason that there is no one person or group who gets to decide what its purpose is. Instead, every individual user gets to decide for themselves how to use Bitcoin and what makes it valuable.
It seems clear to me that people who live in societies where even their choices about what to wear could lead to their own financial banishment may find great value in a currency that can’t be controlled or manipulated by their enemies. Bitcoin is the only currency that fits that description.
If you’re looking for financial freedom and self-sovereignty, I strongly believe that there’s nowhere else it can be found than on the Bitcoin blockchain. After all, if you look hard enough, you’ll be able to find someone pulling the strings, or in a position to do so, with every other currency out there.
