I hope you are all having a good day, welcome to CryptoGod-1's blog on all things crypto related. In this post I will be looking at the recent launch of WorldCoin's World ID 2.0.

World ID 2.0

Worldcoin (WLD), the global project focused on digital identity and finance, has recently introduced World ID 2.0 in Singapore. This is the latest product from the organisation which is pushing its "proof of personhood" through their WorldCoin and World ID projects. This allows people to verify their humanness at an Orb.

As per the official statement from Worldcoin, the introduction of World ID 2.0 in Singapore has taken place following the successful launch of the tool and the subsequent open-sourcing of the Worldcoin iris recognition pipeline in mid-December. The statement noted:

World ID lets you prove you’re a unique human on the internet while keeping your identity private. It’s designed to give you full control, and is built as an open protocol meant to be owned by all people.

World ID 2.0 will introduce Apps, a new way to  and use integrations to verify your online accounts using World ID. You can explore available apps on the new Worldcoin App Store, including the new integrations with Reddit, Discord, Shopify, Minecraft and Telegram.

Any users of Worldcoin in Singapore can now undergo World ID verifications through the Orb, which is a custom hardware device developed by the Worldcoin project. Locations of these orbs are available from the Worldcoin website and they are available globally.

This news comes following the announcement that Tools for Humanity (TFH), a contributor to the Worldcoin project, has recently become a member of two esteemed startup and tech associations in Singapore—ACCESS and the Singapore Fintech Association (SFA). This comes at a time when the project is pushing ahead with its commitment to expand its presence and establish more collaborative projects within the tech and fintech communities.

Tools for Humanity has also noted that "nearly five million people" have scanned their eyes in exchange for World IDs since the project was launched by Sam Altman back in 2021. This comes despite the controversy and disapproval from many public sectors regarding data privacy.

In terms of its global reach, and with World ID 2.0 being rolled out across 2024, World ID verifications have expanded globally over the past month in more than just Singapore. The Spanish cities of Sevilla and Bilbao are joining others such as Malaga, Mallorca, and Madrid in expanding their number of Worldcoin users. In Germany, there have been launches in Cologne and Leipzig to increase the number of cities with Orb Locations in the nation to four, along with Berlin and Nuremberg.

South American locations such as Concepcion, Curico, and Vina del Mar have seen World ID verifications land, while Argentina made a national record when over 10,000 citizens completed their verifications in a single day. This comes as the Argentinian nation has devalued its Peso, which have have helped to incentivise people into using the Orb.

The Worldcoin project also has its World App, the first World ID-compatible wallet. This has achieved a significant milestones in recently surpassing 5 million downloads. The developer of World App, TFH, has noted that they have over 1.7 million monthly active users and more than 30 million total transactions on the platform. With the app ranking as the 5th most popular hot wallet globally in 2023 its achievements are impressive. Although there have been other achievements, such as surpassing 1 million verifications in January, the future will include the introduction of World ID and SDK in March 2024 along with achieving further global reach.

Have a great day,
