Wombat Dungeon Master - Blockchain NFT staking game

Do repost and rate:

On March 14th, 2022 I was introduced to Dungeon Master, and by March 15th, 2022 I had already spent 40 WAX (~$10) on NFT's to up my gameplay. I am no stranger to NFT staking "games". I have played R-Planet and if you have followed me for a while you should now how much I dislike R-Planet but not because it is a staking game but because of the people running it ruined it when they got greedy. So needless to say I am holding out hope for Dungeon Master.

What is the game about?

The premise of this game is simple. You have a little wombat character and you need to send him into the Dungeon to earn points and at the end of the season the amount of points you have equal how much crypto you earn. So the game is a set and forget type of game, a idle dungeon crawler if you will. You select how long to send him into the dungeon and then come back to see what they got. That is the game at it's base level. However they is so much more to the game.

You the player are the Dungeon Master. You need to "stake" your NFT's to your Dungeon. What they does is basically hide them in the Dungeon and then you send your Wombat into the Dungeon to find said NFTs. However that doesn't really explain the game. What it really means is that you stake your NFT's to the Dungeon and it increases your Mining Power when you run through the dungeon. The more NFT's you stake the more XP you earn and the more "Collected Points" you earn. You also have a chance of finding new Wombat NFT's when you do a dungeon run.

What I like about Dungeon Master is that it is in it's 1st season and it already has a lot of polish. There are various card packs that you can unpack to get NFT's. You can use those NFT's to equip your Wombat to have better stats. There are so many NFT's that you can stake to up your mining power. You can combine wombat NFT's to make the same item but a stronger level. So let's dive into all those aspects.

You do not need any NFT's to start playing. You can login right now and send your Wombat on a 24 hour mission and check back tomorrow and see if you won any NFT's.

Equipping your Wombat with NFT's

There are 6 slots on your Wombat that you can attach a NFT to. Hat, Light, Bag, Top, Shoes and Digging Tool. Each one of those has it's own unique power that strengthens your Wombat

It could increase your Mining Power, or it could increase the amount of XP you get, and it also can lower the duration of your trip. There are 5 levels for each NFT as well: common, uncommon, rare, legendary and Mythic. We will get into how to raise a NFT's rarity later. After a lot of searching I was able to find a full guide as to what stats each NFT has:

If you want to view those stats in a larger format you can go here: https://dungeon.wombat.app/learn-more

LIGHT, DIGGING TOOL, BAG, SHOES CATEGORIES INCREASE THE MINING POWER

HAT CATEGORY DECREASES THE DURATION OF DUNGEON RUNS

TOP CATEGORY INCREASES XP

How to level up Wombat NFT's

One of the reasons I like this game is because it is still season 1 and you can already blend NFT's together. They truly launched a full game and not some half baked game. There are 2 way to get to the blending section but at it's core you need to know you need 4 of any 1 specific NFT to blend it to a higher level.

You can either go directly to https://blend.wombat.app/wax to blend NFT's or go to your Wombat equip screen and then click on the bottom left corner where it says "Upgrade Items" and it will take you to the URL above. Once at this page click the WAX login button so that it will show you all the available recipes you can blend.

For this demonstration I am going to Blend the Pit Lamp. I have four Level 1's that I am going to blend to a Level 2 and then I will have four Level 2's that I am going to blend to a Level 3.

What you need to do is click on the recipe you want to blend. So for me it is the one that is called "Pit Lamp - Level 2" because that is the NFT I want to make. It will look something like this if you have the necessary NFT's to blend.

Click on that teal/blue BLEND button and it will ask you if you are sure.

Then you will see your new NFT.

If you are like me and want to immediately use that NFT to blend it even higher you are going to have to wait a little while. The NFT is immediately in my inventory over on AtomicHub but it takes a little while to get a Mint # so just wait patiently for a minute or two for it to finish it's minting process before you try to proceed. And now I can blend my four level 2's into a Level 3.

And that is really it to leveling up your Wombat NFT's. I wish there was a way to upgrade say a level 5 Torch to a level 3 Pit Lamp or something like that so that anyone could in theory get a Legendary item if they blended enough but we shall see.

How to stake NFT's

Now onto the staking portion of the game. This is where the game is similar to R-Planet if you are familiar with that. You use the NFT's you already have in your WAX wallet (or go buy some) and stake them to the game to gain more mining power. When your NFT's are staked they are unusable in any other way. That means you can't use them to play other games with them. You can't use them to collect airdrops if a NFT collection airdrops new NFT's to anyone who holds a certain NFT. Think of it as when you stake your NFT to Dungeon Master you are sending them your NFT and then when you unstake it you get your NFT back.

With any NFT staking game or DeFi platform I have always been a little weary of staking valuable NFT's. Do not stake anything that you can't afford to lose. If you have a incredible super rare Mint #1 NFT that your Grandmother sent you before she passed away..... I wouldn't stake it.

What I love about Dungeon Master is the sheer amount NFT's you can stake and the amount of NFT collections you can stake from. I am not going to even being to try to list them all out here but I will link the 'official' Dungeon Master NFT list for your viewing pleasure.

By my count there are 8,051 NFT's that you can stake to gain mining power in Dungeon Master. I luckily had some extra CryptomonKey's laying around that I could stake right off the bat. I did some minor digging into the sheet and I found (at time of writing) that you could buy this for 1.8 WAX and it gives you 5 mining power. But I highly suggest you do your own research on them if you are looking to buy NFT's to stake for more mining power.

On the main screen you will see a purple button that says "Pick more NFT's to hide". Click on that bad boy.

It will bring up a window (the middle picture above this text) where you can click on which ever NFT's you want to select to be staked to Dungeon Master. Once you have selected all the NFT's you want to stake scroll back up and stake them. Then a 2nd window will pop up (the image on the right, above this text) which asks you if you are sure you want to stake and that in order to unstake it is a 24 hour period to unstake. If you are sure then click on Yes. And there you have it. Your NFT's are staked and your mining power will have increased.

How to send your Wombat on Dungeon quests

Now let's get into how to actually "play the game" shall we? On the main screen you will see something like this:

The very bottom yellow button is what you want to click on when you want to send your Wombat on his Dungeon adventure. However before you click it there are few things you need to pay attention to.

1) The Candy at the top of the image

The Candy is a 10% boost for 2 hours that you will receive every 24 hours if I am not mistaken. When you click on the candy it will ask you if you are sure you want to start that 2 hour timer now and if you hit yes it will apply a 10% bonus for 2 hours. What I have not been able to test yet is if you send your Wombat on a 6 hour mission with that 10% bonus does it in fact apply to just 2 out of the 6 hours of the mission? Or do you need to send your Wombat on 2 1hour missions to take full advantage of the candy bonus. I am assuming it will just boost 2 hours of Dungeon hunting regardless of the time length of your mission but I need to fully test this out at some point.

2) The Change Duration next to the yellow button

This will allow you to change how long you send your Wombat on missions. You can choose between 1 hour, 1.5 hours, 6 hours and 24 hours. I personally choose 6 hours which usually means I miss time while I am sleeping to send them on another mission. So I might start utilizing the 24 hour mission in the near future.

3) The chest underneath the yellow button.

This chest is a 24 hour reward for basically logging in every day. You will be able to open it once a day and when you do you will be given "Collected Points", which are the points you need to earn rewards at the end of the season. There are rumors that you can also get NFT's and packs from the Chest but I have never received any from it personally.

What is coming down the road?

I like a game that is released and appears to be a complete game but they also have plans for the future. That is exactly what Dungeon Master is. There are plans to release "Materials" into the game in March. I will leave it to the Dungeon Master team to explain their future plans.

I am excited to be able to get materials because that will only increase the game NFT market and also allow you to make your own boosts which will be awesome.

How do you "Win"

There are a few ways to earn in this play to win game. Collected Points are the big one and then Wombat NFT's are the second.

When you complete a dungeon run you are rewarded with Collected Points. All that means is how much WAX or EOS you will get at the end of the season. For every 1,000 Collected Points you earn it is equivalent to $0.01 in either WAX or EOS which ever you want.

The other way you can "win" is to earn NFT's from your Dungeon run or even packs of NFT's from a Dungeon run.

Again this game is built on Seasons. Season 1 runs from February 9th to March 23rd. So it will be interesting to see what they have planned for Season 2. One thing that is not clear to me is the NFT pack rewards. They state every 24 hours you have a chance to get a NFT pack but it doesn't state that if they mean if you do 24hr dungeon runs or just once a calendar day so maybe doing 24 1hr runs would have better odds them just 1 long run.

There is no referral system that I know of so just head over to the website and start playing! https://dungeon.wombat.app/dungeon

If you have any questions please feel free to ask and I will try to answer them as best as I can.
