While the BRAVE Rewards system overall that I wrote about here was significant for users for creators I am still trying to figure it out to be honest. Part of me thinks what is going on with the overhaul will actually come to really help benefit creators but again it is really hard to tell. According to the update, the biggest change that creators will see is going to be on the Brave Creators Dashboard. The balance indicator is going to be removed since that is a vBAT function and they are going to give the dashboard a redesign to better help Creators. Below is a preview of what it could possibly look like as they work out the new dashboard for Brave Creators.
Since Brave Creators have to be paid out to a custodial wallet already there will be no change in their payouts or how they happen. A change that I think could happen that they have not really touched on or addressed is the fact that users in unsupported regions will not be able to earn BAT anymore. Because of this Brave is introducing a mode for these regions that appears to function like the current iOS (iPhone/iPad) browsers function. This "experience" is called "creator support only" and while a user will continue to view the Brave Rewards ads these rewards will go into a pool that is paid out monthly to verified creators.
With unsupported regions being able to join this pool it does make me wonder if the payout to creators will increase because these users can no longer access their BAT on their own. It also adds an interesting dynamic into Creators possibly offering perks or other things to the individuals located in these countries in exchange for their BAT and the monthly BAT donation. While it is a bummer for individuals utilizing Brave Rewards for Creators it creates a whole new dynamic to work within.
