Where will we be in 2024?

Where were you two years ago?  Granted, the last two years have been both disgustingly stagnant and ridiculously active, but two years is two years.  There's a thought that I chew on regularly: five years ago I never would have expected me to be the person I am today. How can I guess who I will be in five years?  It doesn't keep me up at night, but it influences the decisions I make and how I see my current self.  I am not, today, the pinnacle of who I am.  I am transient.  I am constantly growing.  I'm not high right now.

Through technology we can see problems and solutions in advance.  We can guess where we will be heading without having to know exactly how the solutions will be coded.  We see difficulties - negative feedback, bottlenecks, design flaws - and can speculate about how to fix them.  I'm no expert, but here are a few problems that I hope we will see good solutions to in the next two years.

In 2024 I hope we have:

Regular payment options:

As a small business owner, I want to incorporate crypto into my daily routine.  I can have a bunch of QR codes at my POS station that allows someone to pay with the crypto wallets I have set up, but what if someone walks in and wants to pay with something I don't have incorporated into my system yet?

In the next two years, we should have some options in this area.  With Square allowing crypto deposits into CashAppPaypal exploring similar options (though I personally question Paypal's true intentions with the lack of options/transparency in their crypto scheme so far).  The app could work by automatically exchanging the coins in your wallet for a coin that the restaurant's system accepts - probably BTC or USDT - and then sending them via a fast-moving network transaction - Lightning Networkdifferent coin with fast speeds (I use Stellar a lot with my trading).

In 2024, hopefully we will be able to walk into a business, scan the QR code that their POS system generates, and pay our total with whatever cryptocurrency we want.  This will be similar to Unbanked's Visa cardCrypto.com's cards, but instead of having a specific list of allowed deposits you can pay with ANY tradeable asset.

Reliability, Transparency, and Ease-of-use

The requirements to operate a crypto exchange are very relaxed right now.  (Anybody else deposit into Bituary?  That was early in my crypto exploration phase.  Not my best move.)  With time, the cream will rise to the top.  Those exchanges had better also provide transparency when it comes to their daily workingslow fees, and easy-to-use UI/UX options.  They will provide good support services, and maybe even insurance for the security of customer deposits.

In 2024 I hope that we have options that fill our needs while also being good, reliable companies.  Also Santa, I want a pony and a dragon and to avoid societal collapse.

Don't Tread on my Crypto

It seems like every other day there is news about legislation regarding crypto.  From Arizona's "legal tender" bill to federal "we reserve the right to ban all crypto", it's a topic that is obviously on the minds of legislators.

Give us the freedom to do what we want.  Give us the option to make a living with new technologies.  Don't make a fool of yourself by trying to crack down on something just because you don't understand it.  If you truly believe in Captialism, let this market regulate itself.

I would love to see some official documentation allowing for the free use of crypto.  Cryptocurrencies and tokens are not just one thing.  They're more than just scams.  They are investments, financial speculation tools, savings accounts, gift cards, fungible currency, business fundraising and more.  Just because it's not something that everyone understands yet, doesn't mean it's bad.  Just let us be.

Will BTC still be on top?

Bitcoin is the household name placeholder for blockchain technologies in general, but will it remain that way?  With other coins and tokens providing functionality vastly beyond what BTC offers, I hope to see more everyday-use options rise in market value.  BAT, ETH (once they lower gas fees FS), and even XMR have better real-world uses than Bitcoin.  I don't expect BTC to really GO anywhere; I just want the technology to move forward and reward functionality.

These are just a few of the things I think about when it comes to crypto.  What concerns do you have that you think will be successfully addressed in the next two years?  I want to know!  Comment below.

This is not financial advice.  I do my own investing and dabble in trading, and I do my best to make sure to stay on top of the new blockchain technologies, but I am not an expert.  Just a dude with an opinion.
