Lately we talk about nothing else.
Which will be the future of Internet, how it will change and if it will be able to overcome the limits of the Web 2.0 to which we are accustomed.
We started with the World Wide Web, a real breakthrough in the although it was a network of static sites, users could navigate between site pages and between search engines.
Interaction between users had to go through chat rooms and email, social networks didn't exist yet.
We had to get to to find ourselves in the era of Social Media: Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and slowly all the others.
We went from a phase where users were mere observers to a phase where users could actively participate.
Blogs came into the scene, anyone could have their own to express themselves, connect with others and feel part of a community.
There was an air of freedom, the freedom to actively participate in change.
But today, looking back, we realize that something got out of hand.
the internet is dominated by the presence of a few centralized services such as Amazon, Google, Facebook and a few others that hold the most valuable asset we have unknowingly given away: our personal data
An enormous amount of information circulates on the net and is in the hands of some big multinational companies that use it to their advantage, from the sale of products and services to the sponsorship of electoral campaigns.
In short, we've discovered the limits of Web 2.0 and we can no longer pretend we can't compromise with our privacy and security.
That's why we've been hearing a lot about Web 3.0 for a while now, about how we'd like the Internet to transform, even though we still don't really know what it is because there is no concrete definition of Web 3.0.
We only know that we want a human-centered internet, a safer, fairer and more transparent web, a web open to all.
It takes a radical change in the infrastructure behind the network and today fortunately the technologies exist to foreshadow its real development, Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), decentralized systems and advanced cryptography
These are all advanced tools that can help us move from old 2.0 paradigms to new 3.0 models, to make another fundamental technological leap.
But it will be a gradual transition in which increasingly user-friendly Web2 sites and services will have to communicate with blockchain-based Web 3.0 platforms, until all companies convert their infrastructure to the decentralized network that is totally user-centric, who directly controls their wallets and tokens and a whole range of use cases in property rights, identity, licensing, authentication and more.
It will be such a gradual transition that we'll find ourselves using Web 3.0 without even realizing it
