Despite the ongoing processes in the crypto market, games continue to exist, and professional developers working in the field predict that the blockchain game industry will be more active in the coming year. Henry Chang, CEO of the South Korean game development company Wemade, believes that there will be an increase in blockchain-based games to be offered to users in 2024.

Web3 Gaming Sector to Make a Mark in 2024

Henry Chang stated that the Web3 sector will have more complex applications within games and made noteworthy remarks about the industry:

"As developers gain experience and trust, we should see a wider variety of Web3 games with blockchain elements being tested and used in a sophisticated way in game mechanics and gameplay."

Besides the number of games released, Chang also suggested that more game studios will include Web3 integration into their portfolios. The executive believes that the natural features of blockchain games allow for the creation of new revenue streams, the creation of new experiences, and make community participation more engaging through tokenomics.

Chang also explained that games combined with blockchain give back in-game asset ownership to the players, connect the real-world economy to the games, and make the games interoperable, creating a harmonious whole.

Web2 Companies Continue Their Interest in Web3

Bartosz Skwarczek, the founder and CEO of G2A Capital Group, the company behind the gaming market G2A, agreed with Chang's thoughts and predicted that there would be more collaboration between traditional industry players and Web3 initiatives in 2024.

Microsoft announced its support for Chang's Wemade company's Web3 integration in a press release on November 2nd. On November 16th, Skwarczek's G2A, a traditional gaming platform, launched its own marketplace focusing on Web3 games. In his statement, Skwarczek continued, saying that more collaboration would lead to more widespread adoption of Web3 games:

"We can expect more detailed game designs and more engaging game mechanics with advanced accessibility and user-friendly interfaces, which could attract a broader audience."

The executive believes that the integration of NFTs for in-game assets and the emergence of a real Triple-A-rated Web3 game could be a factor in redefining games in 2024.
