Walmart Apollo, a subsidiary of Walmart Inc., has recently submitted a trademark application for “Sam’s Club” in the United States, suggesting the company’s interest in venturing into the metaverse arena.

The application was filed on March 30 and covers a broad range of entertainment services related to virtual, augmented, and mixed-reality experiences, as well as virtual environments for user interaction and amusement.

The application also includes the electronic transmission of virtual reality content and data, virtual and augmented reality environments online, and virtual goods across various categories, including electronics, home decor, sporting goods, and appliances, among others.

Additionally, the trademark encompasses physical fitness training and educational services in virtual and augmented reality environments relating to health and nutrition.

The metaverse is a virtual world where people can interact with each other and digital objects in three-dimensional space. It is expected to be the next big thing in technology after the internet.

This move indicates that Walmart may be following in the footsteps of other major companies that have already established a presence in the virtual world. In February, Sam’s Club also filed trademarks for services related to virtual currency, cryptocurrencies, and NFTs.
