Canadian-American venture capitalist and Bitcoin billionaire Chamath Palihapitiya said that crypto art and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) are the next frontiers of digital assets. Palihapitiya predicted the explosion of crypto arts and NFTs while speaking in an interview with Bloomberg Markets and Finance.
The billionaire stated:
“I am building a fairly sizable portfolio of what are called NFTs (non-fungible tokens). Some digital art, some virtual trading cards, and these may sound crazy to some, but I do think that that’s the next frontier of digital currency and digital assets, and so I have been building a portfolio.”
Speaking further, Palihapitiya said that his team would declare all their crypto investments to the public in a few weeks or months. According to the CEO, the reason behind the declaration is for transparency and for people to monitor how they “buy and sell things.”
The NFT space has been buzzing since Palihapitiya’s bullish comment. NFTs have become a new trend and are also making headlines. Amid the buzz, some top brands have joined in the NFT mania. They include Charmin, MSG Entertainments, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut Canada, Pringles, and Nike.
Recently, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey also sold his first Tweet as an NFT for $2.9 million. Dorsey said the proceeds would go into charity.
