Now all popular social networks are centralized. But with the advent of cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology in our world, there are such concepts as web3, decentralization, DAO. And today I want to talk about FAO in more detail.
What makes DAO different from traditional structures is the following:
1. Working on blockchain
The popularity of blockchain has increased with the proliferation of cryptocurrencies. Blockchain technology is now used in many fields and areas, such as storing and processing personal data and identification, in marketing and computer games.
Blockchain is a continuous sequential chain of blocks containing information.
2. Management structure without hierarchy (no vertical power). That is, all participants are equal and are not subordinate to anyone.
3. All decisions are made by voting. Token holders will be able to collectively participate in decision-making on the development of the platform.
4. all activities are fully accessible to the public, i.e. information is in the public domain. Everyone can see all the activities of the movement of funds. All transactions are transparent and their authenticity can be unconditionally confirmed.
Now social networks web2 are centralized, the power in them is hierarchical, users can not make decisions on the platforms. If users don't like something, they are forced to either adjust to the requirements and conditions or find another platform.
Web2 social networks introduce changes, and they are not always in the users' favor. Platform owners often think only about their earnings.
The social network Solcial is decentralized. Each user, with tokens from the SLCL platform, can vote on the development of the social network. Users are the creators of the social network themselves through collective discussion and decision-making. If someone does not like a proposal that has been put forward, he or she has the right to vote against it. If the number of those who vote against it outweighs the number in favor, the proposal will not be accepted.
In addition, users will not only be able to make management decisions, but also to choose what content they want to see on the platform. The choice of content that will be shown to a large number of people is also determined by voting. That is, people, by voting for or against content, increase or decrease its bandwidth. For content with inappropriate content, there is a "report" button. This will hide such publications from a large number of people.
This is one of the differences of decentralized social networks. Now there is censorship on the Web2 sites we are used to, and all content is moderated. There are many cases of deletion of publications by the algorithms of the platforms.
Giving moderation of content to the community is, in my opinion, a great solution. Authors of publications will be able to focus on their content like never before and not fear for deletion of publications.
In this way, we will see in Solcial a model of governance based on the principles of DAO, which eliminates the concentration of power in 1 person or group of persons. People will be able to be their own regulators and transformers of the social network, making it better, more user-friendly and more user-centered.
