Tron (TRX), What Is Power, Bandwidth And Energy?

Do repost and rate:

Tron (TRX) is the native token of the Tron Network. This protocol relies on a derivated Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism which enables in part not to rely on expensive hardware mining to mint block inside the blockchain network, but requires users to stake a certain amount of its native token, Tron (TRX) to forge blocks onto the blockchain. What is nice about this Tron Network, is that it can deal up to 2,000 transactions per second, which makes it one of the fastest. Moreover, inside this blockchain, when you make transactions, you have to rely on some of these parameters: Power, Bandwidth and Energy. But do you know what are they used for?

Power

This parameter represents kind of the power you have inside the Tron Network and acts as a voice. This consensus mechanism relies on a Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS), which means that users inside the blockchain, vote for Super Representatives of their choice. These Super Representatives have an important role governing the Tron Network with various functions like being in charge of forging block onto the blockchain. Here are a list of all the Super Representatives. Power, is based on a 1:1 ratio of the number of TRX you have. So, freezing (staking) the asset on (a) particular Super Representative(s) will give him (them) Power, and with enough Power, he (they) will be part of the ones elected as Super Representatives for a 6 hours cycle.

By freezing 81.095 TRX, I gave 81 Power points to the Super Representative I chose.

Bandwidth

This parameter represents kind of the amount of fuel you have to make transactions into the Tron network. When you make a transaction on the related blockchain, you transmit byte arrays which consume an equal amount (ratio of 1:1) of Bandwidth.

For instance, this transaction I made, required 251 Bandwidth points.

Every 24 hours the network grants you 5,000 Bandwidth points for free. As long as you do not burn all these free Bandwidth points, you can transmit free transactions.

In addition to that, you can earn extra Bandwidth points by freezing (staking) TRX onto the network and choosing to earn Bandwidth as a resource type reward. By freezing 81.095 TRX, I earn 125.479 extra Bandwidth points.

Bringing me to 5,125.479 Bandwidth points every day.

Energy

Decentralized applications, DApp, use smart contracts on the Tron Network. These smart contracts are coding in programming languages, such as JAVA. When a smart contract is running, it consumes CPU resources and takes time to be executed onto the network. This time represents the Energy parameter. For 1 microsecond of executing time, 1 point of the Energy parameter is required.

You can earn Energy points by freezing (staking) TRX onto the network and choosing to earn Energy as a resources type reward.

I personally do not use smart contract on the Tron Network, therefore my Energy point is equal to 0.

If you want to go deeper into the Tron Network as a developer, here are the documentation

The parole is yours

So, did you already know these things about Power, Bandwidth and Energy inside the Tron Protocol? And, what do you think about these parameters utility? Feel free to share your thoughts and any other feedbacks in the commentary section!
