Trillium or NFTs? What to focus on in Alien Worlds

Do repost and rate:

So, you've already got your Human Avatar ready and started mining? You're gonna go far, kid! Alien Worlds seems to be the most promising game on the blockchain (maybe dCITY should also be mentioned here), if you'd like to make a few bucks. After creating an account, you can equip your avatar with tools (you'll start out with just a good ol' shovel) and start mining the ingame token "Trillium" on one of the six available planets. But wait! There's more to it! You also have a chance to obtain NFTs as drop-rewards after each mining session. Currently available are Tools, Minions, Weapons and Avatars. Each of them are obtainable in different rarities. Six to be exact: Abundant, Common, Rare, Epic, Legendary and Mythical. They can be used for your game progress, be sold at Atomicassets or be staked for Aether at R-Planet.

You have to prioritize

The stats of each mining tool and land vary. You can increase your mining power for Trillium or your chances of getting an NFT. If you're just in it for the money - what "build" should you choose? Go all in for the Trillium or prey for the best NFTs? Maybe you're more of a balanced type and would like to earn them both equally. God, you're greedy! But greed is good, so more power to you!

Let's break down the math (I don't have a degree, but I'm pretty good with all the numbers from 1-9)

The formulas go as follows:

Mining Power = Land Mining Power * (Mining Power Tool 1 + Mining Power Tool 2 + Mining Power Tool 3)

NFT Luck = Land NFT Luck * (Mining Power Tool 1 + Mining Power Tool 2 + Mining Power Tool 3)

Now, there are tools that will increase your mining power, but not your NFT luck - and vice versa. Theoretically, you'll be able to achieve a "balanced" build, but always take into consideration the charge time of each tool, which will be the time, you have to wait between each mining process. The better the stats of your tool, the higher your charge times will be. Items of higher rarity will have a better charge time/upgrade ratio. But let's take a closer look at the two available resources - then you can decide, which build fits best for you (I'm not smart enough to propose tools for certain builds, but you should read this phenomenal article by a fellow blogger: https://www.publish0x.com/my-splinterlands-blog/best-tools-to-mine-for-nfts-in-alien-worlds-xykqvek)

Trillium *insert crazy gold digger dance here*

I've been playing the game for four days now and I'm currently mining 8-10 Trillium per mining session. Let's see how much money I'm making and if I should tell the boss of my real job that I hate him and will quit right away. Right now, you can trade 1 Trillium at Alcor Exchange for ~0.056 WAXP. One WAXP equals ~$0.042, which means that you'll earn ~$0.0024 with each Trillium mined. That's ~$0.01 for every 5 Trillium. So, you'll have to mine 500 Trillium for one Dollar (at current market prices and transfer rates; excluding fees). WAXP could be rising, but who knows how the transfer rate from Trillium to WAXP will change over time. So, let's just keep working with the current numbers.

NFTs (selling fake shovels for real money)

As I've mentioned before, you can sell your hard earned NFTs for WAXP at the Atomicassets market. Prices start at around 0.35 WAXP ($0.01) and rise up to 369369369.00 WAX ($15365765.75; but he's probably not gonna sell that one anytime soon). Rarity is of much importance here, as is the possible "shininess" of your card. In four days I've managed to farm around 20 NFTs. The highest rarity I mined was Common, the second one from the bottom. If you own four types of the same card, you can burn them to get one shiny iteration (there are 5 types of shininess), which will increase their value immensely.

Also: You can stake your unused NFTs at R-Planet to gain Aether. You'll gain 0.6 Aether for any NFT of the lowest rarity every hour. The only thing you can do with it now, is to trade it for WAXP at the aforementioned Alcor Exchange (currently 0.00043 WAXP). In the future, if everything goes well, you should be able to use the Aether to build new NFTs.

What should I focus on

I have not a single clue. Right now, it all depends on the game's further development. NFT drops in higher rarities are extremely rare, so if you're in bed with Fortuna - go for it. But I wouldn't be betting my day job on it (so no revenge against my boss yet). R-Planet seems like a promising project, but so does investing in WAXP. I'm certainly a greedy *insert swear word here*, so right now I'm going for both. And I'm also staking Trillium for cryptomonKeys NFTs (you should definitely check out this article: https://www.publish0x.com/banano/free-banano-nfts-cryptomonkeys-update-8-alien-worlds-monkeym-xykegnd)

Big reveal - the build of a real genius

So, what am I mining with right now? I'll show you! I don't wanna hear any criticism, as it is surely a work of genius! (I need help guys, if anyone has any suggestions - please let me know!)

Keep on Trillium'dingelinging!
