Ledger Not so Safe Afterall
With so many people considering their option's following the news the private keys are basically not private at all when it comes to Ledger, their competitors have been making the most of the dismay amongst consumers. As a leading hardware wallet specialist, TREZOR have decided to capitalize on Ledger's troubles by creating a promotion of their own.
According to their website Trezor claims to be "Open Source security you can verify" and along with this, they are offering customers a 15% discount until the 21st of May 2023. Currently they have two types of Hardware wallets available, the Trezor Model One and Trezor Model T, priced at $58 and $186 respectively with the new discount applied.
Trezor is owned by SatoshiLabs, a company based in the Czech Republic’s capital Prague, and was launched in 2013. They are considered one of the main players in the Hardware wallet space, and have always been seen as direct competition with Ledger when it comes to choosing the best Hardware wallet. Their numbers are impressive, with more than 300,000 units of the Trezor Model T having been sold to date, and over 750,000 units of the Trezor Model One.
With one of their biggest rivals floundering under the pressure, Trezor are aiming to thrive on their rivals mistake. Although Ledger have come out and assured their customers that the Ledger Recover update is optional and will not automatically take and shard a users secret key, many are still apprehensive and weary that such a possibility exists. While their rivals struggle, Trezor will look to take advantage and make the most of this opportunity.
They wont be the only one though, as Coldcard, a Canadian Hardware Wallet maker, is also having a discount over the weekend. If you were every considering investing in a Hardware Wallet, this might be the perfect time.
